This Course is a first step toward conducting a financial analysis of a company. It arms the Course participant with the basic tools of financial analysis. This course consists of two [2] Lessons:
In the first Lesson you will learn: What ratios are and how these ratios are used to identify major trends and changes underlying the financial statements. The Lesson will discuss in detail only the profitability and efficiency ratios. The other types of ratios will be discussed in a Course on Short-term Liquidity and Long-term Solvency.
In the second Lesson you will learn: How management uses its discretion to manipulate operating profit to present a more favorable profit and loss statement of accounts. The accountancy profession's proposals to prevent management from manipulating operating profits are also discussed.
